Drums & DrummingPosted by Richard Thu, July 01, 2010 00:22:47
No! That's why I wrote this: What can I expect from one-to-one tuition?

Evil Dick and the Banned Members are recruiting musicians for a new line up.

Auditions

EDBM are holding open auditions for:

• Guitar lead/rhythm

• Trumpet

• Alto Sax

• Tenor Sax.

These positions would suit those players with:

• the time to commit to a music project;

• some ensemble experience;

• a professional attitude and a desire to achieve high levels of performance;

• an open mind, i.e., those who wish to explore both familiar and unfamiliar ideas and that are capable of many styles (old and new). We're not looking for those just wanting to play rock or nu metal, or swing c.1946. We need musicians who think beyond genre;

• decent chops;

• the motivation to perform original music.

All positions are quite demanding, that is to say, everyone in the band will be expected to get on top of the material quickly. Some sight-reading skills are required as parts are usually fully scored in Sibelius. You don't have to be a brilliant sight-reader but knowing how to read music or tab is necessary. You will also need to be able to improvise or willing to give it a shot.

All members contribute to costs of rehearsal. Earnings from live performances will be split equally.

About the music

‘Evil Dick and the Banned Members’ was formed by Richard Hemmings in 2001 as part of his PhD research into uses of unpredictability in music. The current batch of work covers many genres including jazz, latin, rock, boogie, all with a hint of bizarreness. Upon request, three mp3 files (MIDI versions of the scores) are available, although solos and drum parts are provided for demonstration purposes only.

Vintage 1970s Sonor Swinger kit

Drums & DrummingPosted by Richard Sun, April 11, 2010 10:17:40

Here are some pictures of a wonderful old Sonor Swinger kit I'm selling on ebay. It's in great condition and one of the earlier models judging by the numbers inside the drums; 007 inside the bass drum and floor tom and 006 inside the small tom.
